The Pearl Project is a social enterprise that was founded to end the negative stigma of lung cancer with a simple concept – think pearls for lung cancer awareness!  We believe lung cancer deserves compassion, recognition, and higher survival rates.

Our social mission is vitally important to the Pearl Project’s success, and sales from all products support lung cancer focused non-profits to fund research, awareness and education. We are creating an awareness movement toward a world where no one is blamed for having cancer. The statistics are widely misunderstood and as the leading cancer killer in both men and women, lung cancer can affect anyone.

Founder Kristina Corrales Raso designed The Pearl Project’s Custom Pearl Jewelry Line in memory of her mother to offer a recognizable symbol for lung cancer awareness.  Wear it with pride to encourage the world rethink lung cancer.

Why pearls? Lung cancer has many colors. One is clear because it’s an invisible disease. Another color is pearl. Pearls represent wisdom and strength. Traditionally worn across the chest, they are an iconic symbol to support a disease that deserves a voice and progress in the cancer community. Thank you for thinking pearls for lung cancer awareness. Empower. Inspire. It’s Time.

Did you know?

Often regarded as a self-inflicted cancer that affects older smokers and mostly men, lung cancer is simply not a marketable disease. This stigma has resulted in minimal development in awareness, research, or progress in the disease. Lung cancer survival has remained as low as it was in the 1970s. To illustrate the gap, research funding per lung cancer death is approximately $1,415, while research funding per breast cancer death is $13,452.

Though intentions were positive, the anti-smoking campaign efforts branded lung cancer as a smokers cancer. It has been widely accepted as a “will not happen to me” disease by non-smokers. There are countless addictions with health consequences, but the issues still deserve a voice. The Pearl Project is dedicated to educating the public, empowering women and men, and changing the face of lung cancer.
